In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I called my magazine 'Indie Jam' because as it is an indie jam magazine, I wanted to relate it to fashion too and I understand that 'indie' is also a type of style aswell as a music genre. So as spring was coming to an end, but it wasn't quite summer I found that 'Indie Jam' would be a very approptiate name for my magazine..
I decided on the above genre because after researching music magazines, I found that there were very little indie music magazines on the market, but lots for rock, rnb ect. So I formed a questionnaire and from the information I collected, it seemed that an indie music magazine was the right choice.
The main images I have used for my magazine were actually taken for my photography project, they were taking in and around Digbeth in around March time. They seem to fit perfectly with the rest of my magazine and relate to my double page spread (dps) story. The extra images I took which are placed on the right side of my dps were ones I took of my brother at home, this was for the purpose of advertising the best outfit shown in the fashion rocks show.
It was quite good timing that just as I started my magazine, I had a project on 'faces and places' lined up in photography, as I know my model (Nathan) well, once I found a good location, taking the photo's was reletively easy.
I have kept the fonts in a bold and slimmer style which is fairly masculine. The fonts are all either red, black or white this is because they go well with the light back ground image and are also cliche for music magazines therefore will appeal to people more than other magazines do.
I have layed out my magazine by combining my own ideas with other magazines that I have analysed, keeping my subject in the centre of the front cover, allows it all to be easily viewed and read.
