How did you attract/address your audience?
I have tried to attract my audience by using a competition where readers have the chance to win tickets to 'Fashion Rocks' 2011 in Birminghams bullring. The competition and coverline is also linked to the main image which makes it obvious that the main article is based on Fashion aswell as the band. The use of my coverlines in the left third would also attract the audience, with structure staying the same, I have varied the font and font size to make some things stand out more than others. My contents page has been influenced by 'LOOK' magazines contents page, I like the way it is in blocks and has a picture in the top half which gives more of an insight into what the double page spread is going to be about. I have chose to put in an editors pick onto my contents as it tells the reader a little more about what they should expect in this special edition. I have priced my magazine at £2.50, which for its contents i believe is a reasonable price. The price allows all ages to purchase the magazine and all classes too.

Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
Firstly from the beginning of the course we had a limit on the amount of computers available for our usage, so we had to take turns or look around for a computer in a different location this frustrated me as it was not easy to get the work done when I planned to, however after weeks of waiting we got new laptops which made it alot easier to get going on the task and use up the lessons wisely.

As I done all of the work on Microsoft publisher I picked up how to use it very quickly, its not a very technical programme to use but does require patience and anticipation. It was a great programme to choose to make my magazine and has lots of fonts, colours and sizes to pick from.
Making this magazine was the first time I have used dafont.com, I found that it was easy to use and there were so many great fonts to choose from. I searched for fonts that related to music and that's where I found the my mastheads font. The font suits the genre of my magazine perfectly and I will be using this site for similar tasks in the future.
This was also the first time I have ever used photoshop elements, it is more advanced than the photoshops I have used in the past but was good for what i needed it for.
For my double page spread I took photographs of my brother in an outfit and had to edit them so he was no longer in the outfit and the background was plain white. This allows the focus to be completely on the clothes instead of the person modelling them.
Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
As my media product is an indie music magazine, it is targeted at young adults between the age of around 16 and 25. I chose this audience because from doing my research, I found that there was not many thorough indie magazines on the market in Birmingham. As vintage fashion is a big part of the magazine they are mainly sold in London, and other cities such as Madrid, Tokyo and New York. I expect the people that buy my magazine will be in either class 1,2 or 3, of the social class guide-lines making them fairly wealthy people, with good jobs, a good income and a relatively good personal image.
Question 3
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?
From looking at different institutions, I found the one that distributes the most well known magazines is WorldWide Magazine Distribution LTD - British magazines direct which is now based in Chelmsley wood, Birmingham. They issue all sorts of magazines such as: Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Heat, NME, Rock-a-Rolla and many more. The company took off in the 1970/80's and was known for its computer gaming magazines but has expanded since, and formed a strong market joining with three of the UK's major wholesalers, WH Smith, John Menzies, and Surridge Dawson now dispensing fashion, music, lifestyle, sport, gaming and many more genre's of magazine.
From looking at the stats between different magazine distribution companys, it has become obvious that WWMD is the best distribution institute in the UK.

Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
From researching audience theory and social groups, I've came the conclusion that my music magazine will mainly appeal to 'groupies'. People who want acceptance off either their friends, or just in general. As this edition of the magazine shows the latest fashions and trends and all the best ways to look good, aswell as the top music of the month. It is aimed at people in either A, B or C social class, although it should still appeal to people in the lower social classes too.
Compared to the magazine below, I have recognised that my cover now tells a story just as 'details' does. It shows a famous actor hitting hollywood at speed, so sitting on a car bonnet on the hills of hollywood is perfect. My cover is more basic, although that is what I intended maybe the background that relates to music may have being better. I think that both models have an appealing and cool look about them which will encourage both male and females to pick up and see what the magazines about.

I chose this photograph for the front cover, as it makes it clear that the magazine in style orientated and indie/rock genre. The body language gives the impression that its quite an 'open' magazine, and with added cover lines it gives you the idea of what to expect inside.

Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?
I called my magazine 'Indie Jam' because as it is an indie jam magazine, I wanted to relate it to fashion too and I understand that 'indie' is also a type of style aswell as a music genre. So as spring was coming to an end, but it wasn't quite summer I found that 'Indie Jam' would be a very approptiate name for my magazine..
I decided on the above genre because after researching music magazines, I found that there were very little indie music magazines on the market, but lots for rock, rnb ect. So I formed a questionnaire and from the information I collected, it seemed that an indie music magazine was the right choice.
The main images I have used for my magazine were actually taken for my photography project, they were taking in and around Digbeth in around March time. They seem to fit perfectly with the rest of my magazine and relate to my double page spread (dps) story. The extra images I took which are placed on the right side of my dps were ones I took of my brother at home, this was for the purpose of advertising the best outfit shown in the fashion rocks show.
It was quite good timing that just as I started my magazine, I had a project on 'faces and places' lined up in photography, as I know my model (Nathan) well, once I found a good location, taking the photo's was reletively easy.
I have kept the fonts in a bold and slimmer style which is fairly masculine. The fonts are all either red, black or white this is because they go well with the light back ground image and are also cliche for music magazines therefore will appeal to people more than other magazines do.
I have layed out my magazine by combining my own ideas with other magazines that I have analysed, keeping my subject in the centre of the front cover, allows it all to be easily viewed and read.
